| In order to make our probes
more effective in the northwest's soil formations
we decided to replace the standard GH-42 hammer
with a 165 pound Stanley hammer. The result has
been faster and deeper holes with less refusal.
The heavier hammer also enables us to quickly
core through asphalt and concrete using a carbide
tip drill steel and the Geoprobe rotary box.
Our modified Geoprobe 5400s are ideal for environmental
site investigations, maintaining a low site presence
and generating far less soil and water waste than
conventional drill rigs.. They are set up to do
continuous soil sampling (using 4-foot or 5-foot
samplers), groundwater sampling, soil vapor samples
and insitu-remediation injections. For water sampling
we have both vacuum pumps and peristaltic pumps
on all or our probe units. With 2.25-inch casing,
the Geoprobe 5400s can install 3/4-inch prepacked
monitoring wells and 1-inch piezometers, vapor
extraction wells or sparge points. High pressure
grout pumps are available for deep holes and sensitive
sites.
• Geo-Tech currently has three
modified Geoprobe 5400 rigs:
- Box Trucks - Provide
lighting and covered fold out work benches
- F550 truck - 4x4 with
an enclosed box and self contained decon unit
- F350 truck - 2 wheel
drive with trailer mounted decon unit
- F350 van - for low clearance
jobs, onboard compressor and trailer mounted decon
unit
